Zenithar's Forge is, first and foremost, a modlist for Skyrim: Special Edition that can be installed using Wabbajack. If you're unfamiliar with the terminology, a modlist is a list of mods that have been hand-selected and patched to work together. Wabbajack, meanwhile, is a tool that can replicate a modlist from the creator's PC onto yours. This means you can install hundreds of mods in just a few short hours and expect them to work with very minimal effort on your part.

As for the goal of Zenithar's Forge, the modlist is built around a single idea: losing is fun. Zenithar's Forge is a punishing survival and profession roleplay list where you start as an ordinary citizen of Skyrim — not the Dragonborn, not a hero, just a person trying to make their way in a harsh and unforgiving world. You begin with next to nothing and have to earn absolutely everything, one hard-won step at a time.

Almost anything can kill you. A single wolf is a genuine threat, your skills genuinely matter, and combat is something you have to work up to rather than something you can rely on from the start. Before you can adventure, you'll need to survive: keep a roof over your head, food in your belly, and coin in your pocket.

That coin comes from honest work. Zenithar's Forge leans hard into its professions — you can make your living as a chef, brewer, merchant, blacksmith, alchemist, enchanter, hunter, or hired hand, building yourself up from a nobody into someone capable of facing what Skyrim has to throw at them. Every system feeds into the others, and the slow climb from struggling citizen to capable adventurer is the whole point of the list.

If you're looking for a power fantasy, this isn't it. But if you want a Skyrim that makes you earn your victories — where a successful hunt, a full coin purse, or simply surviving the night feels like a real accomplishment — Zenithar's Forge is built for you. Just remember: losing is fun.
