How do I get more spells? // Spellforge Guide
We utilize a suite of mods to tone down the power of mage playstyles. One of these is limiting the power of spells sold by vendors; in order to obtain spells above Novice you need to interact with Spellforge.
To start off, you'll need to either locate a Spellforge Manual- which can be purchased from certain spell vendors, or go to the College of Winterhold and utilize the Spellforge on the bridge. There are three lights; you can interact with the bottom light to access the main Spellforge menu. Here you have a few options, most importantly of which is Arcane Resin creation and it will automatically pull Arcane Resin from your inventory when forging the spell.
You can set parameters in the top and middle lights to narrow down your spell selection, then confirm your choices in the Spellforge menu. You'll then be force-equipped a channel spell that you cast in order to power the machine. You will need enough Arcane Resin, skill in the school of magic you're crafting the spell from, and magicka to channel into the forge in order to complete the crafting.

Devious Traps:
Looting can randomly trigger a devious trap. You can tweak the chances in the Devious Curses MCM.
The traps can put you in a devious contraption, or put devious devices on your character.
Devious devices:
- Cutting: You press S each time just BEFORE the bar is filled. Effectiveness depends on your timing, your sharpest weapon and the type of device.
- Struggeling: Before selecting a struggle option, it tells you how resistant the device is against brute force and magic. The type of struggle matters. And when struggeling, press A when you flash blue, and D when you flash green.
- The order of devices also matters. Start with the devices that are the most accessible. It should be straightforward, but if you aren't sure, you can check the accessibility in the device menu.
- You might have to struggle multiple times till your free.
Devious contraptions:
- Press E to bring up the DD menu. And select Try to escape
- You can try to break the device, pick the lock, or struggle.
- The game explains the struggle minigame the first time, but to summerize:
Hold a W, A, S or D key for ~2 seconds and guess the correct sequence:- Green circle = correct guess.
- Red runes = wrong guess. Start over, but remember any correct guesses you made.
- Big purple runes = reset. This can rarely happen and you have to start over completely.
- Tip: The correct sequence can't have repeating keys. e.g. WWW, WAA, ... are not possible.

Leveling Lockpicking/Pickpockting (Security)
Option 1 - “fast ish” get the calm spell or one of its higher level counterparts to pacify bandits then pickpocket everything they have you should be able to pickpocket them however, many times you need to get all their stuff as they don’t give you the “this person is already caught you pickpocketing them” message
Option 2 - “the safe way” get a devious device you can struggle out of, then got to the Devious Lore MCM and goto the escape mini-game section and assign a key bind to it, or just left click on a lockpick in your inventory. Press the key bind, select the device, select struggle, then select pickpocket. Read the prompts to learn about the mini game, you should get about 50 skill XP per escape (Configurable in the MCM). You will be left with a stamina debuff for awhile the base rate is to get back 5 stamina per in game hour.
Note ‘Sleeping may restore all of the debuff but more testing is needed’
